All I Got is a Phooootograaaaph!

Better late than never...
Time for a good old fashioned photo blog!  Everyone loves a photoblog, right?  This is what I'm trying to convince myself of... because it's the quickest way to update on everything that we should have been blogging about for the past, oh, THREE months.

So I'm going to say it now, and just put it out there.  I'm lazy.  And this is my sluggish, cutting-corners way of getting caught up.  I would apologize.  But then I remind myself that I'm in control of my blog and not you.  So there.

(I'm sorry!  Ah, I just couldn't avoid it... it's in my Canadian nature. I feel much better now...)

========

We went on family vacation in February, to our usual spot in the Mayan Riviera.

Fourteen days of glorious relaxation, unforgettable family time and far too much food.

We ate like Kings!

And for 14 days, our mission was to try a new beverage every day.  We had some interesting concoctions.

And some that were 100% awful.

For those that know who my Opa (Heinz Bauknecht) is, we found his doppelganger  in Mexico.
Dinner on the beach!

Scene of the crime -- Dad stole this one night and went on a joy ride with Jeremy, Jason and Mom.  Jessica and I guiltily decided to walk.  They were eventually caught and ran from the scene.

Ana & Alex, the Cuban extension of our family, always great to visit with them and hear her wonderful voice!

And always great to see obnoxious Bon Jovi obsessed vacationers from Thunder Bay who still think it's the 80's.
 =========

Jonny is still obsessed with playing and we continue to take him and Frankie to the dog park down the street.
He also has thing about feet.  Constantly cleaning our 'paws'.

And he weeds our backyard, too!  Pulls the thick vines that run rampant and treats them like toys.
Two birds with one stone!
We had just a teeny little dog-walking incident that saw a wire leash get wrapped around my legs.  A few burns behind the knees, but nothing a little Polysporin and bandage couldn't heal.

Legend!  Jeremy with THE Carlos "El Pibe" Valderrama, one of South America's greatest footballers.
=======

We experienced our first US tax season.  It was very exciting!  Waiting in line at the IRS is everyone's dream, isn't it?
=======

One of the advantages of living in a tropical climate.... these guys!

And one of the advantages of living in a tropical climate inhabited by so many Central and South Americans!
And this!  Yum.
========

This guy pops up every once in a while.  We continue to be thankful for a fenced in back yard.
Do you like our new mower?  His name is Jeremy.

A little golfing action in March, with Phil and Ian from work and Ian's dad from Scotland.

We took a short trip to Ottawa in April and were thrilled to be back amongst our fellow Canadians!

We stayed at the majestic Fairmont Chateau Laurier.
We were both extremely star-struck by this building.  Our first time meeting Parliament in person!

This looks like we are about to burn the Canadian flag, but don't be alarmed.  We weren't.

While in Ottawa, we shot some promo footage for the eventual launch of our channel in Canada.  Still no word when that will happen, though.

We were able to get Mom and Dad involved, too!

A day of sight seeing in our nation's capital.

The War Memorial/Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
We discovered Ottawa and Montreal are only 1.5 hours apart!
So this gave us the opportunity to see Best Friend Melissa!!  Reunited again!
Near our hotel, there was a Scotch tasting bar with a very long menu of options.
So we expanded our horizons into the world of Scotch...

... it's not for everyone.

The reason we were in Ottawa in the first place was because I was receiving an award from one of my all-time favorite organizations, Canadian Women in Communications.

Gave a speech and was thankful I did not trip and fall on my way to the stage.

So honoured to have been nominated for this!  And super thankful Mom and Dad travelled to be a part of it.

And this is what unpinned looks like.

=======

I was very sad to have missed the World Men's Curling Championships as they were no being televised here.
Nothing a little Face Time with Mom & Dad couldn't remedy!
=======

Jer & I took part in a 5K business marathon.
But seeing as we don't have a fit muscle in our bodies, we walked most of it.

There were a looooot of people in it.
=======

Girls night.  We pretended to be bartenders to get into a private party.

Yep, bartenders.

=======

Mmmmm, donut...
Mmmmmm, credit builder!!

We love our new Beetle Convertible!  An appropriate vehicle for year-round summer.
But a ball-hat is absolutely necessary to avoid a birds nest hairdo.
=======

And finally... we've been in Miami for 8 months and we've finally tasted the local delicacy of Stone Crab.
Dee-lish!
